Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc. (PCPPI) is marking this year’s commemoration of World Diabetes Month this November. It supports the call of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) to embrace healthy lifestyle habits to mitigate the disease’s adverse effects.

In the Philippines, the IDF reported that almost four million of the adult population are diabetic. And as of March 2022, diabetes ranks among the five leading causes of mortality in the country.

Diabetes is defined as a complex disease characterized by elevated blood sugar due to abnormal insulin secretion. Over time, high blood sugar damages the body’s essential functions, especially the nervous and circulatory systems. Those living with diabetes are more vulnerable to complex diseases, thus the need to adopt mindful lifestyle changes to abate potential risks.
