Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc. (PCPPI) is marking this year’s commemoration of World Diabetes Month this November. It supports the call of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) to embrace healthy lifestyle habits to mitigate the disease’s adverse effects.
In the Philippines, the IDF reported that almost four million of the adult population are diabetic. And as of March 2022, diabetes ranks among the five leading causes of mortality in the country.
Diabetes is defined as a complex disease characterized by elevated blood sugar due to abnormal insulin secretion. Over time, high blood sugar damages the body’s essential functions, especially the nervous and circulatory systems. Those living with diabetes are more vulnerable to complex diseases, thus the need to adopt mindful lifestyle changes to abate potential risks.
This year, PCPPI launched Gatorade No Sugar as a healthy beverage option, naturally sweetened with stevia and filled with electrolytes. Available in Citrus Quench and Blue Bolt flavors, the refreshing and delicious drink provides the necessary hydration without the sugar.
“Aside from being sugar-free, Gatorade No Sugar has no calories—making it a great choice for those who want to enjoy an invigorating drink without worry,” said PCPPI president and chief executive officer Frederick D. Ong. As with the well-loved brand Gatorade, Gatorade No Sugar contains the right amount of electrolytes to maintain hydration throughout the day.
PCPPI is reminding those living with diabetes to consult their physicians in managing their dietary choices. Combined with regular physical activity, adequate rest and recovery, and mindful lifestyle choices, the effects of diabetes can be kept at bay.
PCPPI is the exclusive manufacturer of Gatorade and other well-known beverage brands like Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, 7-Up, Mirinda, Mug, Sting, Tropicana, Lipton, Aquafina, Premier and Milkis.
